The french translation seems stalled since a few
months. Since I really needed a french translation, I did one. It
is finished, and I only need to revise everything.
It
is based on Quebec Office de la langue française terms and
rules, so might be a bit different from a translation for France
or Belgium. This translation (fr_CA) could thus be kept in
parallel to the other french translation in preparation
(fr_FR).
If you are interested in a fr_CA translation,
I am volunteer to maintain it. And it would be available in a few
days.
I also have a translation question: do you
consider "CMS" to be part of the name of Drake? Since
CMS stands for Content Management System, in french it would be
translated to Système de Gestion de Contenu and thus we could
translate "Drake CMS" to "SGC Drake". But if
the CMS letters are an integral part of the name, then no
translation applies and it remains "Drake CMS" in all
languages. What would be the official translation?
Thanks a lot for this great project

Nice to

not notice or read Becoming a translator

The ISO language id would be ca (e.g the
lang subdirectory would be lang/ca); so yes, Drake CMS
can support a fr_CA translation (and correctly recognize it from
browsers' User Agent).
Please read the rest of the Translator manual and then
submit a request to billyv, who is the I18N Team
coordinator.

"CMS" is part of the official branding, so
"Drake CMS" must not be translated. This also applies
to composite words, like "drabots" for example (I
cannot remember about any other word right now); billyv might
know more about that.
Thanks to you for contributing!

Hi, thanks for your fast answer. I will submit the
translation via sourceforge.

I have read this notice but cannot see which
rule of it I have transgressed beside not mentioning my
sourceforge username

wasted some time

A few translation glitches

Hi,
I have finished and tested a french (canadian)
translation. It is not official yet as I am awaiting an answer
from billyv.
However I came across a small problem and
a few minor glitches:
- in administration backend,
System -> Database -> Manage backups: once the
"Restore" button is translated, it does not work
anymore. Nothing happens when clicking on it. I was able to
reproduce the problem with the spanish translation. (I am using
v0.4.7RC3) Changing back to english brings back the
functionality.
- in administration backend, Global
Configuration -> Email: the "Send test email" button
cannot be translated (no available parameter) (or did I miss it
somewhere???)
- while logged as administrator, Submit
News: the "Reset" button cannot be translated (no
parameter). The same button is correctly translated in
"Submit images"
- while logged as
administrator, Submit Weblink: the "Reset" button
cannot be translated (no parameter)

He might be very busy - however there is no problem
about the fact this is a regional translation, it is part of the
standard which we are respecting in Drake CMS.

Maybe an apostrophe issue?
Please report all of them in a bug tracker item, thanks.

Please report also these, in a separate
bug tracker item. We will fix them. It is possible that some
"Reset" buttons cannot be translated because the
default Reset button caption is left to the browser.

Hello,
I'm looking this forum and this particular
subject since several months.
And I have a question:
How is going the French translation?
I'm waiting for
it to launch a Drake-cms web site base on drake-cms.
Happy Christmas everyone.
Best regards, gogo12

The fr_CA translation is
updated to v0.4.9 RC5 and can be downloaded from the auto-updates
facility. So, when you install v0.4.9, you can install it as an
automatic update
