Can't upgrade
27 February 2008 19:47
Anonymous I thought I'd posted this before but I don't see it. I'm running Drake V4.0.6 r 4755 and the red box says to update to v 0.4.11 r 5575 but when I click on the red box, it tells me "You are not authorized to access to this resource." even though I'm an administrator.

Also when I attempt to administer users I get the same message.

I can upload images, add components, edit articles, etc.

All the permissions appear to be 777 at least at the top level.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim.

Anonymous Hi

There was no 0.4.6 v4755 release there was a 0.4.8_RC4_r4755

Regardless I think you will find you will have to go through the interim updates before applying the latest patch..as long as your install is not a SVN version, SVN cannot be updated using the inbuilt process.

You should read the relevant release news about the process of applying these interim patches...some updates required manual edits to be preformed as part of the process..

OR, backup, do a new install of the latest release and then restore...taking into account any bugs that are evident in this release..

Good Luck

Anonymous Take pity on us old folks that have a lot of trouble seeing black print on a red background with fine print. It was an 8. That's almost as hard to read as the idiots that have the dark blue print on a black background I see on the web every so often. wink

OK so how many of these releases am I behind?

Thanks,
Jim.

Anonymous Hi again

News does not look good, Read Here

There is NO patch to update from 0.4.8 to 0.4.9, so I think the best way is to get the backup working and do a backup of the current site and then install the latest release and restore the backup into that...OR...wait until the first LaniusCMS release happens, over next few days/weeks and use that instead..

You will then be up with the current branch and release..

Good Luck

Anonymous I can't understand if you're using an SVN revision, a customized/mixed version or an officially released version.

What's your exact Drake CMS version?

Anonymous You may have better eyes than I. I can't read black on bright red anymore.

Anonymous Note, for some reason I didn't see any of the responses come across my email until today. I have no idea where they were stuck.

This site is hosted at a web hosting service. For that reason files created by the php code do not belong to me and I can't remove/change them.

I may have mentioned before I can't backup with the cms backup utility. I have however downloaded the site via ftp to a local disk. Will there be any difficulties if I install a later version over top of the local disk? Identifying the core cms files and differentiating them from my files may be problematic if that's required.

Thanks,
Jim.

Anonymous Hi

Re issues, I think you will run into probs as there may have been changes to tables etc during the evolution of the beta versions.

Have you tried using the utility webadmin.php to remove/change files on the site..

It is very useful and may help.

This may have been covered previousely but what are your permissions set at for the /private and private sub folders?

Are you using a Gladius or other db?

I can see how you could do all the work locally using say xampp and then upload all the files, would take a bit of work though.

Good Luck

Email notifications no more work here on SF.net because SF.net has discontinued the cron jobs shell service. this is an issue that we will fix with the new Lanius CMS official website, which is not based here at SF.net

My suggestion is to run the old version locally, make a tarball backup (locally) and then extract it on the most recent Drake CMS.

As Terry said you CANNOT overwrite the old version with the new version, that's not how it works.

Since you have a relatively old version you should first make the downloaded version work locally (changing some bits in private/config.php should suffice) and then make a backup. Read the release news for the full explanation
