I want to migrate an existing web site to Drake. There aren't a
lot of pages, so it won't be a big problem to generate new
content from the old manually, however I have a large number of
photos, broken into "sets". Is there a way I can enter
them into the Gallery without going through the tedious process
of uploading them one at a time?
Thanks, Jim

If you have each set = a directory, you can upload the
directories into the media/gallery Drake CMS path and
then use the wizard to automatically recognize them.

Hi
All, i've spent some time this morning to find out how to do
it but i did not find the way. I've tried to do also this
but no way and finally i uploaded the files in lots of 5.
Do there is other steps to performs?
Other
thing the default ordering of pics in the gallery is by TIME of
uploading; this means that the my gallery is not respected. I'll open a bug.
Using official rc4

To
complete this discussion, here are the steps I used:
1. Upload a directory and files into the media/gallery
directory. Be sure that the directory has 755 permissions and
the files have a least 644.
2. Go to
Admin->Components->Galleries->Categories
3.
Click on the wizard button.
4. You should see 3 line
items, select the name of the directory you uploaded from the
select box associated with the third option. If you only see two
options, something didn't work and Drake didn't find the new
directory. Be sure the permissions are set and you uploaded to
the correct directory.
5. Once you've selected your
directory, press "Next".
6. You will be
presented with a list of Categories, one of them should reflect
the name of the directory you just uploaded. Click on it if you
want to change the name of the category to something more
meaningful.
7. Go back to
Admin->Components->Galleries->Categories and select the
(Browse) link next to the name of your new Category.
8. Click the checkbox in the header of this page. That will
select all the images on this page (Only!) Click Publish,
assuming you want someone to see your work. If you have more than
15 images you will have to come back and select the next 15, etc.
until you publish all of them.
Hope that helps
someone else down the line.
Jim.

By the way, in doing this I discovered a bug in the handling of
pagination. If you do the (Browse) link and attempt to go to
another page from there it seems to forget you are working in a
reduced set of images and jumps back to the full set.
If that hasn't been reported yet, I'll file a bug.
Thanks, Jim

It does't work because the limitation in depth for
folders and categories. Only first level in media/gallery is
recognized.

1
directory = 1 gallery category. Subcategories are not recognized
neither supported by Drake CMS (right now).
