A way to send my regards
31 May 2007 07:54
Anonymous Drake is great in category of flat database apps.

I find it after a full day for resources and a 3 full days (toke my holiday smile) of test.

Thanks for all developers about their spended time and labour.

Now seems Drake definite for me and I just want to respond for their project and support.

I'm not a coder and I dont know anything about the code development. I also dont have enough time anyway smile)
I have no enough greens for a donation (hope will have smile)

But I've started a Turkish translation already.
And also I want to suggest a host for test of Drake or anything else for project inside my possibility of bandwidth.

Does the veloce script can set folder permissions? I didnt need to use so I dont know at the moment.

Or is there possibility to solve folder permissions over web?

If yes I'll suggest to make a dynamic test host for Drake where people can perform a real host setup and test a default view one with "admin permissions. Seperate host for every people that wants.

Suggesting because peoples still asking for instalation problems. Thats quite easy and can be demonstrated in that way.

Regards

Unfortunately we are not greatly advertising it because it is still Beta. When it will be Stable, we will put it on the CMS comparation websites

And thanks also to the testers! They are really the wheels of this project

As far as you will help with debugging, stabilization and improvements with your suggestions and ideas, you will already have contributed to Drake CMS and we will be deeply grateful to you for that! cheerful

But I've started a Turkish translation already.

An user once told me that the language resources need to be properly parametrized because in Turkish the syntax might be very different and so the order of the words. Please report us which language resources need to be parametrized and we will.

Ok! Thank you for your offer! You might begin testing it yourself and we will eventually ask you to make it available for non-reproducible Drake CMS errors (errors happening only on your host) that we will fix.

The problem is unfortunately not solvable through PHP because affects PHP itself: on some hosts (a lot!) the PHP process cannot set folders to writable and sometimes it cannot write anything at all. When the PHP process cannot change folders permissions, you always have to change them through FTP (or shell, if you have).
If the PHP cannot still write then the server administrators have disabled this option in their PHP configuration - either on purpose or accidentally - and you might ask more about the problem to them.

BUT (rolling drums) in future Drake CMS will support an embedded FTP access which will ease the task smile

I'll have change to see if needed.
Well this matters on translating of programs and I hate of it.
But in a web interface I dont think that it will really matters. We'll see.

Let me give an example that mess most translating.

EN: "%50" of 8 process completed ("%50" is fixed resource monitor area)
TR: 8 işlemin "%50" 'si tamamlandı (here we have a problem smile)

That can be traced easly with more users. My host provider is hostgator which perfectly examples a standart shape (most platforms supperted) fail-safe designed commercial host. Maybe that can help.

And I've tested the veloce script and works fine on my host.

Embedded access will be perfect for beginners but dosent solve the matte of upload.

Uploading Drake extracted vs uploading Drake tar.gz
Makes quite diffrent timings and tar.gz transfer is failsafe for bad connections

Please tell us about each text which needs to be changed using the Turkish translation tracker

NOTE: your sourceforge.net email did not work and I could not answer to your email, maybe it is full?

Sure it can! As soon as you find troubles, we will fix them.

That's why I would suggest to make the veloce script the default release (I wrote the veloce script to overcome bad FTP connections and to transfer a lot less data), but many people might get confused...so for now it's for the curious and smart people only smile(those who loose the time to download it, for example).
