Static pages!?
03 March 2007 01:35
Anonymous Is it just me, or is it not possible to create static pages in drake cms?
Everytime i try to create a page (like "about"), it shows up as a news item.

I want a link to the about-page to be created/shown in the left or top menu automatic.
(Joomla/mambo has this.)

A cms without the possibillity to create static pages, is''nt a cms.
Please let me know what to do. wink

You can make other sections and put content items under them; you do not necessarily have to use the news section. If you are referring to the comments and rating drabots not making the page look like static, yes we are working on a core rewrital for drabots that will allow customization of drabots for each component element (e.g. content item in this case)

It is not out plan to replicate features of other CMSes, unless they are very useful! For example, such automatic feature is just a shortcut for the menu item creation, I had seen it in other CMSes too however I didn't know it exists in Mambo/Joomla

You have not exactly defined what are static pages and dynamic pages, however if I understood correctly the functionality you ask for is already present; our documentation is lacking, that's half of the problem sad

Anonymous I finally managed to create a sort of static page (a page where i could post some info about me).
But as you said, the documentation is very poor. sad

Not sure if i can continue to use this cms, cause it''s to hard to understand it as it is right now. It''s to bad, cause i really liked this cms, specially the subsites-mod.

And it seems that there aren''t any other templates available either.

IF i can''t find another cms with subsites/multisite functions, then i will give drake cms another chance.

Thanks for now...

There will be two more in the next release, however for mambo/joomla templates it may be question of months

Ok, no problem, however you should tell us what to do with the Swedish translation...are you going to finish it or you leave the role?

Anonymous I''m still not sure on how to create static (extra) pages in drake cms.
It would be great if someone could explain this for me a.s.a.p.

I want to be able to create extra pages like the contact page but just with text, like "About us" ans so on.

Anonymous In future there will be a component (in the admin backend) that will allow static pages creation with a few clicks (I have heard your suggestion smile ).

I have not time at the moment, I will soon write a step-by-step explanation to show you how to create static pages until that.

Thanks

Anonymous To create static pages:

  1. disable vote and comment drabots from the admin backend drabots menu (they will be disabled for all content items

  2. have a content item in an unpublished content section, for example the default "General Content"

  3. go to Menu -> mainmenu and create a new menu item of type "Content item"

  4. select your content item from there and...

Finished!

So I don't think we need a specific static pages facility, or maybe the procedure is too much lengthy? Give it a try and tell us your opinion smile

Thank you for reporting the issue, it has now been fixed

You should add a module for that menu and then specify the menu name there

Anonymous blink I had never looked at that feature. Now it is possible to create mod_menus but I have found very bad code there...

Keep telling us how to make Drake CMS a better software! cheerful
