Please don't remove the "Powered by Drake CMS" link

Anonymous Hi all,

there has been a short discussion about this subject in the past, I will now try to pronounce a "last word" upon it (you can anyway reply to this topic as it is not locked).

The GPL license under which Drake CMS is licensed DOES NOT require or enforce that you should mantain the "Powered by Drake CMS" link in the Drake CMS templates (either officially released or custom-made).

BUT, if you remove it, it will remain almost no track that the CMS is Drake CMS, thus you will actually have removed any copyright information from the software, and that's pretty unfair and illegal.

I am asking, in the name of The Drake Team (yes there are dozens of people working to provide you with the free Drake CMS software and services), to endorse a fair usage and not remove the "Powered by Drake CMS" link from all the templates used with Drake CMS.

You might ask, why such fair requirement?

It's for the project. If the link stays where it should, more people will know about the project and will possibly join and help.

On the long run their presence will make the software become better and everybody will enjoy the advantages. Otherwise each user experience becomes a dead-end and no feedback comes to the project.

Please note that we are not coding Drake CMS for money, neither to become rich and famous, but without your help this type of initiatives can rarely have success (although we are trying to provide you with the best CMS wink).

Also, we are offering free support on the forums and on the Support tracker at SF.net. You can keep using the software even if you do not satisfy this fair requirement but please don't expect or worse pretend our freely offered support if you are not helping the project!

I hope that was clear.

Thanks for reading!
